DAREA supports National Greening Program

THE  Department of Agrarian Reform Employees Association (DAREA) holds a tree planting activity along the Ilocos Norte-Abra Road in Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte. (Jopo Guerrero) In support of the National Greening Program (NGP), the Department of Agrarian Reform Employees Association (DAREA) recently held a tree planting activity along the Ilocos Norte-Abra Road in Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte. The NGP aims to plant around 1.5 billion trees in lands of public domain such as forest lands, ancestral domains, mangrove areas, urban parks and open spaces, inactive and abandoned mine sites, river banks and streams and all other suitable public lands. Besides lessening the impact of climate change, the said program is also designed to promote food security, environmental stability and biodiversity conservation. San Nicolas (Ilocos Norte) eyes 1st class municipality classification

Adriano Staff reporter SAN NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte—Over the past four years, San Nicolas has become a hall of fame most business-friendly local government unit under the Level 1 category awardee; now it is ready to claim the title as a first class municipality in this province. Based on income classification, only the municipality of Vintar has so far met this requirement in Ilocos Norte’s 21 municipalities; being the largest town with around 61,435 hectares’ land area, thus, have the biggest share of Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA); where it largely sources its income for expenditures. By Dominic B. dela Cruz Staff reporter Batac City – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) office in this city recently was given the Program for Recognition and Award Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) award. The award was officially handed during the BSP Anniversary and awarding ceremony held July 22, 2016. BSP Batac branch headed by Buenafe F. Alinio said the award recognizes men and women of the BSP and has various categories: Model Employee Award; Best Performing Department/Office Award; Best Performing Regional Office/Branch Award; Gawad Gantimpala Suggestion Award; Perfect Attendance Award; and Academic Achievement Award. Mobile dental health bus now serving in Ilocos Norte’s remote areas

Adriano Staff reporter BATAC CITY—Some Ilocanos living in far flung areas with limited access to oral health may now avail of free dental services courtesy of the Provincial Health Office (PHO). The mobile health dental bus cum clinic—started serving patients on August 4, 2016 at Brgy. Tabug in this city. The air-conditioned mobile dental health bus is equipped with dental chairs and tools, lighting, and other dental facilities. The Dept. of Health donated the dental health bus. On its maiden service, two dentists, PHO’s Dr. Eva Candelaria and Batac Rural Health Office’s Dr. Estrella Siroet worked in tandem to serve at least 12 patients here. According to Ms. Candelaria, the dental van is moving along with the Capitol Express team of the provincial government, where they provide dental check-up and services to those who could not afford a private dentist.
