Laoag’s 4 new dads attend iExcell course

Laoag City—This city four new Sangguniang Panlungsod members attended the Introduction to Excellence in Local Legislation (iExcell) at the Center for Local and Governance (CLRG) of the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) on September 5-9, 2016.

They are neophyte local legislators Handy Lao, Roger John Fariñas, Arbee Ablan and Justine Chua.

Mr. Lao said iExcel is a one-week course that seeks to equip newly elected local legislators with the essential skills and confidence needed for local assemblies.

It is also a prerequisite course in CLRGs ladderized Local Legislative Program which culminates in the conferment of a Certificate in Local Policy Development.

Lao added that the course would help them as newly elected legislators in formulating measures as well as in preparations of the council’s activities and programs.

The course included lectures, discussions, exercises and workshops and simulations of Sanggunian sessions.

Aside from this, Mr. Lao noted that it also gave them the chance to connect with other councilors from around the country. (Dominic B. dela Cruz)

PGIN honors Ilocano heroes of past, present through Heroes Walk

Pagudpud’s tourism transformer passes away

Ricardo Nolasco Jr., owner of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018. He was 67. “He did not survive an open-heart surgery,” said Ronald Dominguez, spokesperson of the largest resort at Brgy. Balaoi in Pagudpud. Known as the architect behind the transformation of Pagudpud town as a premiere destination of the north, Mr. Nolasco put up Hannah’s Beach Resort in what was originally meant as a family vacation resort.
