Police file raps vs Badoc vice mayor, bro

LAOAG CITY—The Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office has filed a formal complaint against Badoc Vice Mayor Thomas Torralba, 53, and his brother, Henry Torralba for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and illegal drugs.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Investigative Section of the INPPO filed the complaints through inquest proceedings before Atty. Virgie Lumuntad at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday.

Charges against the Torralba brothers specifically for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act and RA 9165 or the so-called Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 were the result of an operation of the INPPO on June 15 where a simultaneous implementation of search warrants was conducted by joint operatives at the house of vice mayor including his two brothers—Henry and Sesinado Torralba.

The search conducted at the house of the vice mayor resulted in the seizure of one unit M16 Colt baby Armalite with expired license bearing serial number 9018803 with two long magazine and 54 ammunition with same caliber while at his other house, search resulted in the confiscation of 47 pieces live ammunition for Cal .45 with casing (black tip); 33 pieces of live ammunitions for Cal .45 with casing (bronze yip); 17 boxes containing 30 pieces each box live ammunition for Caliber 5.56 mm and 20 boxes containing 50 pieces each box live ammunition for Cal 7.62 mm.

Meanwhile, the search warrant implemented against Henry Torralba resulted in the confiscation of one pistol Armscor 9mm bearing serial number 977717 with one magazine containing six live ammunition, one pistol 9mm Parabellum made in Hungary bearing serial number 62296 with one magazine containing 14live ammunitions and nine pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing alleged shabu.

In addition, the search warrant against Sesinado Torralba resulted in the confiscation of nine live ammunition for 9mm but subject person was not around during the search.

Confiscated items are now under the custody of the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Branch under the INPPO for further disposition. Immediate after the inquest proceeding, Vice Mayor Torralba posted bail.
