Laoag City wins European award

Laoag City—The Laoag City government has one again proven its mettle in terms of performance as it garnered the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) for Best Practices.

The awarding ceremonies were held on June 2, 2014 at the Hotel Le Plaza in Brussels, Belgium where Belgian ambassador to the Philippines Roland Van Remoortele received the award in behalf of the Laoag government.

The ESQR award is for the Laoag government’s excellent commitment and a result of their quality management strategies.

Laoag City becomes the first—and so far only—Philippine city given the ESQR award.

ESQR promotes quality awareness, recognizes good business practices, technological innovation, quality achievements in organizations worldwide, and publicizes these organizations’ successful performance strategies. ESQR also provides solutions to enable organizations from any industry, irrespective of its size and geographic location, to learn the tools and techniques for managing quality as well as address global challenges.

ESQR is dedicated to creating and sustaining an environment conductive to the growth of quality awareness and competitiveness in organizations worldwide by integrating the following strategies in all daily operations, decisions and processes:

Laoag Mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas thanked ESQR for the award as she stressed that this ward is for the city and all Laoagueños.

She added that the award is also a sign of the good governance in the city.

“It's a team [effort], it is the effort of every member iti LGU isu a ti pammatik napintas no agtitimpuyog tayo apo kasi adda daytoy performance management and number one is costumer service”, the mayor stressed.

The ESQR award is the second international award for Laoag City this year.

Pagudpud’s tourism transformer passes away

Ricardo Nolasco Jr., owner of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018. He was 67. “He did not survive an open-heart surgery,” said Ronald Dominguez, spokesperson of the largest resort at Brgy. Balaoi in Pagudpud.
